In 1966, Rev. & Mrs. James Lindley (Jim & Lena) came to the
Virginia Peninsula to pioneer a homeless shelter and Christian ministry to the
needy. Rev. Lindley led the ministry until his homegoing to heaven in September,
1983.

Rev. & Mrs. Lindsay Poteat (Barbara is the daughter of the
Lindleys) took up the torch of leadership at Rev. Lindley’s death (Rev. Poteat
had worked under Rev. Lindley full-time for two years and part-time for eight
more years).

Rev. & Mrs. Alan DeFriese (Faith is the Poteats’ daughter) are
now apprenticing to carry on the work into the next generation. Alan began
serving at the Mission in April, 1999. They will capably lead the ministry for
years to come.
